Go to your settings by sliding down the top menu and tapping "More...":
In the window open, scroll down for security.
It will show a screen where you will find lock screen password option. By default it will be in Off state where you need to make it ON to set the PIN for your Kindle Fire. Tap it to turn it on.
In the window open it asks for new PIN. Set your PIN here. Once you set your PIN. Lock and try to unlock your kindle fire, it will asks you PIN.
